Last July I took my lad to the UFC event in London and we had the best weekend of our lives. It was for his 16th birthday and I guess also a little bit for mine considering I turned 40 a couple of months later, so we spared no expense and had an amazing weekend. 

We enjoyed being at the UFC event so much I knew if I ever got the chance again we would have to come back and see another live event. Then sometime later the UFC announced that they were not only coming back again to do another event but they were coming back to host one of their monthly Pay Per View events. The numbered cards that are reserved for the biggest fights. The world championship fights and not only that but we had a freshly minted British world champion now in Leon Edwards who would be heading up the main event in a grudge rematch against "The Nigerian Nightmare" Kamaru Usman.

So we did it again! 

We stayed in the same hotel as last time. We even ate the same meal when we arrived. The Hells Kitchen burger at [Gordon Ramseys Street Burger](https://www.gordonramsayrestaurants.com/en/uk/street-burger/locations/the-o2?url=/street-burger/the-o2/) restaurant.

It was nobody's birthday this time around though so we replaced the extravagant Saturday afternoon [Gaucho](https://gauchorestaurants.com/restaurants/o2-arena/) steak with with a more modest pizza offering from Kitchen Pizzeria.

As this was a bigger UFC event than the last time there was a bit more going on during the day leading up to the fight. We got to stand off against our chosen fighters*

> I chose Justin Gaethje but the machine gave me Kamaru Usman anyway. The man said Kamura was the most popular choice that day. Yeah no doubt, the machines are as broken as a US election voting machines.

We also got to pose with the championship belts!

They also had a bunch of fighter meet & greets on but the queues for those were insane. Callums just like me in that regard. As much as it would be cool to meet the fighters, we wouldn't queue that long to see anyone! 

We had a really great time again. There is nothing I enjoy more in this world than taking my boy to the UFC and spending the weekend with him. I thought the event itself felt like it was a little flat compared to last time. I didn't get the same energy from the crowd and it didn't seem to have the same party atmosphere as last time. I didn't drink any alcohol the entire weekend this time where as I was drinking all day the last time we went. I wondered if this was the reason but Callum said he agreed with me that the crowd just wasn't as good as last time.

The results weren't as exciting either, pretty much all went to decisions but our British world champion Leon put on a master class and is still the world champion so that was a good way to end the event!

I think that's going to be the last UFC event in London for us for a while at least. I want to try an event in a different country next time!
