I've been using [WARP](https://www.warp.dev/) as my full-time terminal for a couple of months now. I wrote a quick 
[post](/blog/post/warp) about it when I first started so I thought I would write a quick follow-up post now that I've
used it more.

Back in January the thought of changing my daily terminal never even entered my head. Then I came across WARP and 
decided to give it a try and I love it! I can't see me ever going back.

Let me tell you about a few of the things I have come to love.

## Blocks

Anyone that spends any amount of time on the command line knows the pain of executing a command and then watching
it spew pages and pages of output into the terminal window, only to then have to scroll back through it trying to find 
the beginning. 

WARP solves for this by grouping the output of each command you execute into it's own block. 

You can move from 1 command block to the next as easily and hitting the up/down arrows. You can right-click a block
to get access to a wealth of handy commands

One interesting option there is `Create Permalink` which allows you to share the output with someone else, which could 
be very useful whilst debugging issues. 

> I would advise care with this feature though. It does upload the command and resulting output to Warp and is available
> to anyone with the link. You can however un-share any shared code blocks in the settings menu.

One other feature I particularly like with blocks is Search. You can easily search within a specific block rather than 
all terminal output. Neat!

## Autocomplete

The autocomplete is so good it feels like it reads my mind most of the time. As you type commands it uses your history
to make suggestions but it goes much further. It understands many commands and even the arguments and will pop them up 
as suggestions along with explanations of what each option does. It's so nice. 

## Input 

Typing commands in WARP is a much nicer experience than any other terminal I have ever used. It's essentially a modern 
text editor so things like cursor positioning, multiple cursors, selection, copy and paste etc all work just how you'd 
expect in any other application. No more strange characters and beeps when you try to go back and fix a typo!

## Launch Configuration

Finally a terminal that remembers what I was working on and persists things across sessions! It remembers how I
had my terminal windows split, and which directories i was in. The time this saves must add up!

## Speed 

It's so fast.

## AI Command Search

I admit I haven't needed to use this often so far but it is a nice feature to have for when you can't quite remember a 
command or its options. Being able to type in roughly what you want in pain English and have it spit back a fully 
formed command is awesome! It's currently powered by GPT-3 and doesn't always work but I am sure this will continue to 
improve overtime with GPT-4 around the corner.


## The Devs

Finally I want to mention and give props to the devs. When I first started using WARP I left some feedback and reported
a minor gripe I had (not being able to dismiss the big Red banner when a new update was available). Not only did I 
receive a reply from the devs within days but it was also fixed and released in the very next update!
